Wikidot is an open encyclopedia, journal and news source where anyone can contribute to. Wikidot was launched on 19 June 2011 with its first article being "wiki" which highlighted the site's purpose for providing information that would otherwise be unavailable elsewhere.
Motivation
Wikidot is the answer to Wikipedia's aggressive deletion policies that just don't seem fair. The creators feel that it no longer serves as an encyclopedia for anyone who wants to contribute, and they want a more open-minded platform where everyone can be welcomed with new ideas. Wikidot will serve by expanding on this concept of public modifiable publications in real time - making sure there are enough editors around all hours of the day so people never have any reason not submit something to our site!
Approaching editors with AfDs on Wikipedia
Wikidot is a Wikipedia vigilante who seeks out articles that are deleted and tries to save them. If there's any way, they'll find the article, fix it up some if need be, then post it on Wikidot for anyone else looking for information about the subject matter (or just wanting more from an interesting user). They send messages back to their creators letting them know what happened so you can say thanks or ask questions!
